Management Team

Umesh Morey - Co-founder & COO

• Umesh Morey is a Co-founder of Engimates and is an executive member of its Board of Directors since Oct 2016.


• He is currently functioning as Chief Operating Officer (COO), responsible for the execution and performance of Engimates projects by integrating the multidiscipline teams located at Vadodara and Mumbai offices.


• He brings more than 40 years of experience in Petroleum Refinery Projects and Refinery Operations Management. He specializes in Refinery Configuration Studies and Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR), including Technology Licensors Selection and refinery Economic Analysis.


• Prior to Engimates, Umesh was Senior Vice President (Manufacturing) for Bharat Oman Refineries (BORL) from 2012 to 2016 and held executive roles in Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) - Gujarat, Panipat and New Delhi locations for over 25 years.


• He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Tech) from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur 1977 batch.

Kiran Nikam - Co-founder & Managing Director

• Kiran Nikam is a Co-founder and an executive member of its Board of Directors.


• He is currently functioning as Chief Executive and Managing Director since January 2020, responsible for the business development and future growth of the Engimates business. He focuses on the execution of strategy, expansions, and client relationship management.


• Kiran brings more than 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry, specializing in upstream oil & gas concept development, economic analysis, and refinery capital projects. He has core process engineering expertise in gas processing, including Sour Gas Treating and Gas Dehydration Technologies selection. Being passionate engineering personnel, Kiran keeps himself technically involved in project execution at Engimates.


• Prior to Engimates, Kiran worked in Worley, Oman, Ingenero Technologies etc to mention few in various leadership roles.


• He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (B. Tech) from UICT, Jalgaon.

M Viswanathan - Vice President Marketing

• M Viswanathan is currently functioning as Vice President Marketing since December 2022, responsible for the business development and future growth of the EngiMates business in India and Middle East.


• He focuses on the business expansions and client relationship management.


• He brings more than 40 years + of experience in Petroleum Refinery Projects and in Refinery Energy Conservation & environment Management, hydrocarbon safety etc.


• During his long tenure with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has spear-headed various ENCON initiatives like Zero Steam Leak, Maximising Furnace efficiency besides latest Environmental Norms & practices , Zero effluent from the plant, Minas standards ,Liason with Petroleum Ministry etc.


• Prior to EngiMates, Viswanathan worked in various refineries BPCL-Mumbai, BORL, Kochi refinery and Numaligarh Refinery Assam in different capacities.


• Highly recognized for proactive attitude and an ability to think laterally, providing ideas and solutions.


• He holds a Master degree in Business Administration from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies–Mumbai and Degree in Chemical Engineering (B. Tech) from National Institute of technology (NIT), Tiruchi.

Technical Advisors & Consultants

Vijay Malik – Hydrogen and Hydrocracker Specialist

• Vijay Malik is a specialist for Refinery projects at Engimates, specializing in Hydrogen Generation and Hydrocracker projects.


• He brings more than 40 years of experience in design, commissioning and operations of refinery units, including Hydrogen, Hydrocrackers, HDTs, VDU at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Vadodara, Reliance Industries Limited – Jamnagar, and Petronas Malaysia.


• He has extensive experience working with Process Licensors, Engineering Design & Operations of Hydrogen, Hyrodcrackers and Hydrotreater Units.


• He is an expert for HAZOP & Alarm Management System/ Alarm Rationalization and have facilitated numerous Alarm Rationalization workshops for clients like Shell, RIL etc


• Prior to EngiMates, Vijay was Senior Vice President at Reliance Industries Limited – Jamnagar and held various executive roles at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Vadodara.


• He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, 1977 batch.




Abanindra Mahapatra - Instrumentation & Control Specialist


• Abanindra Mahapatra is a specialist for Instrumentation & Control at Engimates. He brings more than 40 years in Instrumentation & Control design engineering for Oil & Gas Projects, Heavy water, Large Fertilizer (Ammonia & Urea), Petrochemical (PP, PE, PTA), LNG terminal, Environment Engineering (viz. Effluent Treatment, DM water, etc.), Chemical and Terminal Automation.


• He worked on major capital projects, including clients like SHELL, Haldor-Topsoe, Snamprogetti, Technimont, Linde, Stemi Carbon & Engineers India Limited (EIL).


• He holds a B. Sc. Engineering, Electrical from Regional Engineering College Rourkela, 1975 batch.




Narendra Pandey – RCM & QAQC Specialist


• Narendra Pandey is a specialist for Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) at Engimates. He brings more than 40 years of extensive experience in implementing RCM activities at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Mathura, Vadodara & Panipat Refineries, Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Ltd & Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd.


• He is a leader in Asset Integrity review, fit for purpose analysis, failure analysis, refinery Turnaround Management, materials selection for refinery, an inspection of static equipment, corrosion prevention & trouble shooting, RBI planning etc.


• Prior to EngiMates, Narendra was Jt. Senior Vice President and Advisor (Inspection, Engineering & Projects) for Bharat Oman Refineries (BORL) from 2011 to 2016, General Manager (Inspection/QA-QC, Engineering & safety) for Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Ltd from 2006 to 2011, and held various key positions at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for over 26 years


• He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab University and an MBA from Annamalai University




Abhijit Haldankar - Technical Safety Specialist


• Abhijit Haldankar is a specialist for Technical Safety. He brings more than 25 years of extensive engineering design experience for process, and technical safety of Linde licensed plants Ethylene, Hydrogen, Ammonia, HyCo.


• He is a leader in HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID PHA reviews and a certified Energy Auditor from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Govt of India.


• Abhijit was the Head of the Department for Process & Environment Safety Design department at Linde Engineering India Ltd.


• He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (B. Tech) from UICT, Mumbai.
